Their New Blogs No. 2

Like a torrent of cases after the floodgates have opened, even more new blawgs* have appeared since my previous post just seven weeks ago:
  • BabyBarista: Unlike Pupilblog, this blawg purports to be a fictional account of a "pupil barrister undergoing the trials of pupillage at the English Bar" and is expressly "not based on fact". Whether this is just a disclaimer to stop the author having his cover blown (as happened to pupilblogger) is unclear, but it's an entertaining read nonetheless. It's actually been running since October 2006, but has only just come to the attention of the UK blawggers.
  • Legal Beagle: The author of this blawg is a fully qualified barrister, and in her own words "Barely a day goes by without some sensationalist report of the horrors of the criminal justice system in England and Wales and those who work within it. I've been trawling around the criminal courts for a few years now so thought I was just about qualified to wade into the debate and attempt to give a true picture of life at the Bar." I quite enjoyed her last post, Would your lordships give me a moment?
  • Diary of a Law Student: I'll take imitation as flattery in the name of this blawg, this is, as the title suggests, "The diary of a young man setting foot into the world of law". The author is a first year who started writing a couple of weeks before he course began. Reading it from the beginning certainly brings back happy memories of that blissful first year, where getting an overall mark of 40% was my only worry - aside from the question of where the cheapest pint could be had.
  • Lawyer-2-be: Another potential barrister (perhaps blogging appeals more to independent-minded stroke self-centered barristers than to collegial stroke selfless solicitors?), this one is currently on the BVC course at an undisclosed location. He writes: "I doubt I can ever find the time to be as entertaining or as comprehensive as 'pupil blog' which any aspiring barrister should have a look at if they can - beware though as it can be quite distracting!".

that bears no relation to this post

In other news, Tim Kevan over at The Barrister Blog is running a weekly review which is much better than the one I've been doing. For that reason, as well as the amount of time putting it together consumes, I've stopped running the legal round up.

* That's "blogs" and "law" merged into one glorious whole.
