... Was over a week ago, and yes, I'm only blogging about it now. The reason? Pure laziness - I have after all just purchased season 1 of both Houseand The West Wing and they won't watch themselves.
After a two and a half hour enrollment* on the Wednesday, Friday saw induction day, where we were told about all the wonderful and exciting things King's has to offer and how our LLM programme would be structured. The morning session was probably the least useful - I didn't want to hear about the college chaplaincy (I'm atheist) or King's College Associates (another religious/faith-based thing), and all the IT information was in a booklet they had given us on enrollment day. When it came round to elections for the postgraduate Law Society, I was off for lunch.
I stumbled in to the poorly run freshers' fair in the students union (and it's a miracle I found said union, it being linked to the main building by a single, nondescript corridor) where I found I had to queue up just to get in to the room where all the sports and societies where. For those of us with short lunch breaks, definitely not ideal. However, the student media/volunteers section didn't have a queue, and it was cool to meet the editor of the London Student and have a brief chat about the trials of running a student paper (as I once did).
The afternoon session was miles more informative - we can choose either a research essay or a dissertation, and we can then do either 3 or 3 and a half courses with the credits we have left. I've still to make up my mind which path to go down with this. I left before the end however, as a chat about how our common law system differs from the civil law wasn't exactly geared towards the home students. I then had week of taster lectures before having to make final module choices (which is where I am now)
Coming up when I can be bothered...
My first week of lectures and the Lost references therein.
* One person I spoke to had to endure a four hour wait.

The West Wing is great. I absolutely love it. Have got seasons 1-7 on DVD and have been watching it for 4 years now. Within that time, I must have seen each season many, many, many times! I don't know much about the 'House' though, will have to look into it. For now, Prison Break is all the rage. Lol
Good luck with your LLM. Kings is a great uni.
